On September 1, 2021, the Fujian Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology and the Fujian Provincial Ocean and Fishery Bureau jointly issued the "Fujian Provincial Work Plan for Promoting the Development of Marine Pharmaceutical and Biological Products Industry (2021-2023)" (Min Gong Xin Lian Rong He [2021] No. 95, hereinafter referred to as "the Work Plan").
The Work Plan proposes the guiding ideology, which is to comprehensively implement the important spirit and instructions of General Secretary Xi Jinping and the decisions and arrangements of the Party Central Committee, and accelerate the development of the marine pharmaceutical and biological products industry in combination with the actual situation of our province.
The Work Plan clarifies seven key tasks, including marine biomedicine, marine biomedical materials, marine functional foods, marine biological enzyme preparations, marine biological agricultural products, marine daily chemical biological products, and marine microbial environmental protection products. Among them, the task of "marine functional foods" mentions relying on parks such as Xiamen Biomedical Port, Zhaoan Jindu Marine Bio-industrial Park, and Shishi Marine Bio-science and Technology Park to promote the growth and optimization of products such as deep-sea fish oil, marine microalgae DHA, and marine calcium-based biological products for enterprises like Runke Bioengineering.
Runke Bioengineering has successfully broken through the key technology of microalgae DHA research and development, becoming a leading enterprise in China that possesses the key technology for microalgae DHA production, and one of the earliest manufacturers in the world to possess such technology. As a microalgae DHA producer, Runke Bioengineering is one of the first batch of enterprises to settle in Zhaoan Jindu Marine Bio-industrial Park. This time, it has been named in the Work Plan as a key development target for promoting the growth and optimization of the marine microalgae DHA industry. Runke Bioengineering aims to drive the upgrading of regional marine industries through marine biotechnology innovation, achieve efficient utilization of marine microbial resources, and thus promote the technological upgrading of the marine industry and lead the development of strategic emerging industries.
